Eric leads Madison Branson Lawyers’ Corporate & Commercial practice. He has more than 20 years’ experience advising Australian and international clients, including multinational, listed, government and not-for-profit organisations.
Biography
Eric is known for the clarity and responsiveness of his advice. He brings technical depth to complex transactions while keeping sight of the commercial outcome his clients are working toward.
Eric has practised in both private practice and in-house roles, in Australia and overseas. That experience gives him a direct understanding of how businesses operate, how decisions are made within them, and the value of a collaborative, teamwork-based approach — particularly in multi-disciplinary and cross-cultural transactions.
Eric advises on:
- Mergers and acquisitions (public and private) and joint ventures
- Equity and private capital raising
- Business establishment and structuring
- Inbound foreign investment and associated regulatory approvals, including FIRB
- Corporate governance and regulatory investigations
- General corporate and commercial law, with particular depth in the automotive sector
Eric holds a Bachelor of Laws, a Master of Laws and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne, together with a Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance and Investment.

- Advising an ASX-listed automotive dealership group on its acquisition of an ultra-premium retail business from an overseas conglomerate.
- Advising the founders of a marketing and public relations business on the sale of their company to an EU-headquartered media and marketing services group.
- Advising the automotive division of a Middle East-headquartered conglomerate on the establishment and ongoing operation of its Australian business.
- Advising the founders and senior executives of a luxury goods business on their expansion into the US, UK and Middle East markets, together with corporate governance advice for a related equity capital raising.
- Advising an ASX-listed property services group on the acquisition of a construction and restoration business in the general insurance sector, as part of its geographic expansion strategy.
- Advising a private property development group on acquisition and joint venture arrangements with a private credit fund in relation to large-scale retail projects.
- Advising the majority shareholder of a former ASX-listed company on full control acquisition pathways following the disposal of its main undertaking to that shareholder.
- Advising a precious metals trading and safekeeping business on its sale and merger with an interstate counterpart.
- Advising the senior management team of a large-scale infrastructure business on a management buyout from its founder.
- Advising a not-for-profit peak industry body on its contractual arrangements with the Australian Government, and on related regulatory investigations and corporate governance matters.
